In this cover image for Goldenberg at al., flocks of birds are used as a metaphor for associations among political groups, with individuals showing an affinity for those with more extreme views than them. Featured as the 2023 Nature Human Behavior hero image.
Change of Heart
This cover image for the April 2023 issue of Nature Cardiovascular Research illustrates a study of how genes of the X chromosome influence development of the heart.
A journey towards illumination
This editorial image for Welch et al. represents the rapid detection of multiple viruses through new microfluidic technologies. Featured in the Lost Covers Exhibit at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard.
An inner battle
In this editorial image for Liu et al., I used colors and shapes to capture the struggle between tumor evolution and the immune system during the life of a single patient.
Phases of discovery
To create an editorial image for the work of Hafner, Mills, Subramanian et al., I used the growing phases of the moon to represent our growing knowledge about a drug’s molecular targets. Constellations in the background illustrate the collection of techniques that were used to make these discoveries: imaging, sequencing, and animal models.
A variant of this piece was also featured in Harvard Medicine News.
A voyage into cellular space
From the vantage point of a spacecraft cockpit, this editorial image for Gaglia et al. highlights multiple perspectives that were used to explore protein aggregates.

Logo for 1001cuts
1001cuts is an upcoming documentary film about the experiences of surgeons who are women. To capture the essence of the subject, I linked the title with the female symbol and the tip of a scalpel. You can learn more about the project here.
Logo for Physician Just Equity
Physician Just Equity (PJE) is a nonprofit organization that helps physicians who are experiencing workplace bias. To encapsulate the goals and identity of the group, I intertwined the scales of justice with a stethoscope forming the letter J. We chose a spectrum of colors for the background to reflect the diversity of the people involved.
Pollution & inflammation poster
This conference poster was used to describe how traffic pollution can impact the immune system at different geographic locations and times of year, with a focus on the underlying molecular mechanisms. The design was a team effort with Lenni Armstrong and Pilar Botana.
